Dedico este texto, en primer lugar, a todas las personas que murieron en las residencias de mayores durante la pandemia por Covid-19 en la medida en que se les privó indebidamente de la asistencia sanitaria a la que tenían derecho y que podría haber salvado sus vidas de haber tenido acceso a ella (Bellver, 2021, p. 6). En segundo lugar, a las personas que han sobrevivido aisladas en sus habitaciones durante semanas o incluso meses, sin contacto físico con nadie. Muchas de ellas han sufrido un deterioro grave en su salud o en su bienestar (Simard y Volicer, 2020, p.p. 966-967), que urge reparar en la medida de lo posible. Y finalmente a todos los profesionales que no abandonaron a las personas mayores en aquellos momentos trágicos sino, al contrario, trataron de cuidarlos esmeradamente, a pesar de la situación dantesca que vivieron durante demasiado tiempo, careciendo de los recursos más necesarios y sufriendo ellos mismos la exposición al contagio, el aislamiento de sus seres queridos e incluso el estigma social por ocuparse de cuidar a personas contagiadas que podían convertirles en agentes infecciosos.
